Colombia is among those IPD partner countries with the widest range of products. The favourable climatic location at the intersection of the South American continent with Central America and the highly varied topography – from plains to high altitudes – are favorable to the growth of many products in the agricultural sector that are in great demand in Europe.

And the potential is huge: Because of the various climate zones in Colombia, many tropical fruits that are always firm favourites in Europe are available and in season for longer than average. Thanks to the richness of its plant species, Colombia also offers European importers an extraordinary and in many cases unique range of new ingredients.

Colombia is not well known as a country of origin for cut flowers. But there is still potential to be tapped here – the carnations, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, etc. on offer are of outstanding quality.

Plantation teak of very good quality is also produced in Colombia. It is very popular on account of its great durability, its good processability and not least its attractive wood grain.
