10 years IPD

10 Years sustainable trade promotion

Founded in 2012, Import Promotion Desk (IPD) has been opening up access to the European market for small and medium-sized enterprises from selected developing and emerging countries for ten years.
With success: the companies in the IPD programme significantly increased their export volume to Europe and created jobs in their regions.

The 10th anniversary was initiated by the event "With import promotion to sustainable supply chains and new markets" on 9 September in Berlin, which brought together representatives of foreign trade, development cooperation and politics.

In her welcoming speech, Dr Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, emphasised the importance of IPD for economic development in IPD partner countries:

"We need these bundled efforts to make progress in sustainable development. Good work, living wages and fair, sustainable supply chains - these are crucial factors in the fight against poverty and hunger."

The review at ten years of IPD is extraordinarily positive: The companies in the IPD programme - small and medium-sized enterprises from selected developing and emerging countries - have increased their export volume to Europe and created jobs in their regions. IPD has continuously expanded its programme and is now active in 16 partner countries and five sectors. And as an import promotion initiative, IPD is a recognised partner for European companies.

For IPD, one thing is certain: the work is not yet done. More win-win situations are needed for exporters and importers, i.e. more sustainable trade relations that have a lasting impact on economic development in the countries.

Opinions about IPD ...

Dr. Dirk Jandura

President
Federatioon of German Wholesale. Foreign Trade and Services

»The regulatory requirements for imports into the EU have been increasing for many years. With IPD, it has been possible to establish an instrument that promotes companies from developing countries to survive in global supply chains. BGA is proud to have launched this idea together with sequa 10 years ago and thanks to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for supporting its realisation.«

»The cooperation with the IPD is a strategic alliance between institutions that want to make a positive contribution to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. We share our knowledge and jointly promote international trade. Since 2021, IPD has established its regional office at PRO ECUADOR. We are happy that our joint projects prepare SMEs for export and strengthen trade capacities. Thanks to this cooperation, we bring "more Ecuador" to the world.«
